UPDATE - 2011

We had a very busy year in 2011 having 346 cats through our doors . We had a slow start to the year but finished with a bang .... rehoming in December was a record !! The kitten season was very busy, and all our local rescues were struggling for space so we helped out where we could having domestic shorthair kittens they seemed to keep coming in and we was very busy with rehoming too so our last 2 kittens went home last week. We had a few ups and downs but on the whole a good year.

I found I was exhausted when we closed for Christmas and realised I had worked 7 days a week for 50 weeks last year and wondered why I was so tired, but after a long break during Christmas and New Year I’m up and running again.

This year I have no idea how it will go but I have a wonderful team ready to take on all we need to do.

I must say I big THANKYOU to all of them for all they have done for the cats Above and Beyond the call of duty most of the time, and when we need to pull together they are all here in a shot which is always reassuring when I need help with a big rescue.

Let’s hope we have calm and eventful year this year and continue to do what we do best to rescue and rehome these beautiful cats to loving homes ..... and wouldn’t it be nice if we had less to do but I somehow don’t think that will happen.

Here’s to 2012 and what is in store for us.

Many Thanks

Patsy

FUNDRAISING

Northampton THANK YOU for your help .. !
We were presented with a £1000 Barclaycard Community Gift award at the Awards evening 8/12/11.
Thank you to all who voted for us.

We went on a fundraiser today (3/12/11)
Rushden Christmas lights were switched on this afternoon and we were there with a stall and raised a massive £319-42 . Thank you everyone for your support

We are always 'fundraising' and applying for 'grants' in order to help fund the rescue, but of course in the current financial climate there are many applicants , but out of the blue last month i got a phone call that literally made me slump in my chair !! ..........

Pets At Home rang me to say that they had awarded the rescue a donation of £5,700 !!! .... i had to ask twice to see if I had heard her correctly ... and i had. :-) We went to Pets at Home this week and collected our cheque for £5700 from their ''Support Adoption for Pets'' section which is going to help provide our isolation unit with space for at least 5 cats (which can also be used to help us with Mums and kittens too )

Ben,Brogan and Cass 3 of our own Persian boys came and had a wonderful time being fussed by the customers and also it was good to make them aware of the laid back nature of the persian breed, because the 'boys' all just laid purring or growling in Cass's case because his purr is so LOUD .... he is a softy but purrs like a lion !!!

Brogan has been with us only a couple of weeks but at 13 years old he is going to help us as an ambassador like Ben and Cass for our Charity talks/Fundraisers at schools and open days etc.

A BIG THANK you to "Pets At home" for their generous donation and wonderful support of Rushden Persian Rescue (photo soon)

Once again we are eternally grateful to the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust for their generous donation of £5,500 for new pens.

We have 2 pens up already ...........

and when the weather improves ( so that we can lay concrete bases ) the rest of the pens will be erected and we will post photos on the website.

THANKYOU

I would like to say a very big ''Thank you'' for all the kind Donations that we have received since we started.

Also I would like to thank all the officers, committee and volunteers for their work and commitment this year and for turning up in all weather fundraising, and also for their care and devotion to the cats in rescue.

We have had some poorly cats in that have needed extra care and all of the team have been there for them be it hand rearing kittens, physio on Klahan after surgery ,vet runs, home visits or just showing people round.

I’m proud to say I have a wonderful team behind me and all of them are devoted to the cats and their welfare.

We have had 321 cats through our doors this year (2010) and have many still waiting to come in but like all rescues we will do our best to help them as soon as possible.

Many many Thanks Patsy
